Cursed with bad sports luck

I don't know what it is with me.
Whenever I start supporting any team they stop doing well. I burn my eyes out watching late night matches only for the team i am rooting for to loose. the other day i was rooting for chelsea- a team whose football i hate- against barca. my reasoning was that the longer they stay in the champions lge, the better it is for the premier lge i.e. man utd. i started liking football in 1999- the year in which man utd did the treble. since then they did win the premiership thrice, but repeated disappointments in the champs lege mean that i have had a lot of painful nights to endure. damn! i dunno how milan lost that final, or how greece won euro 2004 or how the arse beat man u the fa cup final. it just keeps going from bad to worse for me.

Same goes for Formula one- but they did enjoy unprecedented success before they lost out to renault last season. i am talking ofcourse about the prancing horse- the ppl who support any other team are suckers.

same for Andre agassi.... one guy i wouldnt mind marrying. no, i am not gay
(I think the ppl who make gay jokes are gay.... but thats another blog topic).
or sania mirza (god, she is cute). i was not expecting her to win wimbledon but atleast win the match that i am watching. u read in the papers that she is doing well, beating ppl.... i watch one match and bam....out she goes.

and the one sport i hate.... u know what (it's cricket for the uninitiated), they've started doing well lately. arrrrrrghhhhh!

Similar thing happened to me all of last year when Ferrari didnt do too well.... and Real Madrid...well, they've not been doing well for some time now...but anyways..

this year promises to be better, atleast for Ferrari. and schumi did really well in the first race today. i just hope he keeps tht momentum throughout the season..

about Sania Mirza...well, i hope to see her winning more matches this yr although she hasnt really started the yr too well...but i did see her match against Hingis where she really played well (the scoreline didnt suggest so...but whtever)

the footy world cup is round the corner. and i just hope there's some better luck for england this year... i know a lot of u will be supporting brazil but somehow i feel tht england, with the players tht they've got, deserve something.

and lastly about Real Madrid...well, there's not much to say abt them at the moment but i'm sure the future new manager (whoever he is) will get some real good players and not just old superstars who r well past their best. and i hope tht the management allow him some time to get his act together rather than sacking him with 1-2 failures.

and rahul, good luck to u too. :-)

yes, pushkar..... just the other day i read your blog too..... must say, i was impressed. keep going.
hope ferrari and sania do well, but i hope brazil and united do well too. i want england to do well, but winning the world cup... thats brazil's thing..... they play on a different level.... ripping apart argentina 4-1 in a final is no mean feat.
as for real madrid....u knw i hate them.....i read an article on soccernet.com about how they garnered so many fans.... but won't delve into it now.
neways.... i guess since i am hoping for all these things, it is unlikely they r going to happen.

Am not much into football or F1 so cant comment on tht. I like watching tennis. Hvent really watched Sania play except for a match against Maria. But i was far frm being impressed maybe coz i had heard so mny things abt her n expected too much but in d end was vry disappointed. First in the news i use to come across things like Sania climbs to so n so spot but these days wht i get to hear is Sania slips to no ... That shows how well she is performing. For all Sania fans i hope im not being too critical of her.

U guys dnt hve much to say abt cricket. Our team is doing much better now-a-days. No one ever forgets to criticise them wen they r not doin well so then y not praise them a little wenever they deserve it. Indian team is gonna play last test match in Mumbai n im surely not goin2 miss it. Hey rahul i hope u dnt start liking cricket coz i want them to keep doin well.

Cant end without mentioning the historic match between SA n AUS. Ths match is definately worth a watch. Am sure d ppl who dnt like cricket r goin2love d match. Though i missed the live match was lucky enough to catch it again. Most of u must hve seen d match those who hvent pls c it, its jus exceptional match. I dnt think ne1 of us can c a match better than this, its cricket at its best. The only regret i hve is Indian team wasnt involved in tht n ofcourse by sayin tht i mean v shd hve been in place of SA. ;-)

All d best to our Cricket Team.

i think there is too much of football and cricket around nevertheless i do love football.
i think its time we traverse some uncharted territory.
hey guys do u know that indias national sport is Hockey and a great sport it is
India and pakistan have been trying to bite the larger share in this sport too and both r really adroit i must say. do u know we have won eight golds in this sport though it was atleast two decades back. Just think this can happen only in India. A sport that has adorned Indias pride eight times has been meted out such disparaging status. unlike our pampered superheroes in cricket we have some really skilful players in the team but an actively lacklustre government involvement and youth apathy has ensured that we rest on past laurels. how many people know Dhyanchand called Hockey ka jadugar. PPl actually thought he had some spring in his stick. i could well go on and on but i guess that would only invite pure ennui.
talking about football i am a great rooter for the italian team. wow filled with hunks!
some time back the italian team too was something to reckon with i guess having won world cup three times. but since i have started watching football i have witnessed just dismal performances of a not so gratifying nature i must say1

To Sargam,
I think that match between SA and AUS was fixed. Also, i started believing that India could do it on the last day at wankhede.....look what happened.....lol.

To manju,
whoever watches hockey......so what if its our national sport. its a stupid game. playing with sticks....wrecking your back...... its very start-stop kinda game.....never flows.....hate it.....and its not just the gov ruining our game.....we dont play well.... if u wanna see real hockey....watch how the aussies play......
there is really only one game to watch.....the beautiful game.....i haven't yet posted anything on it, but i surely will.

Bad sports luck...
Finally, someone else who thinks like i do..

Consider my luck:

Italy supporter at 2002 world cup..
.. knocked out by South Korea of all teams, by a ref who couldt care less about the enormity of his bad decisions.

Italy supporter at Euro 2004..
.. Knocked out cause of Nordic fixing. I mean what were the odds of Sweden amd Denmark drawing a game 2-2 exactly at 90 minutes and then doing time-pass!!!

Chelsea supporter..
..Knocked out once cause of a Goal that never was!! and then by a booking that never was!!

.. I can go on and on but let me sum it up with just one more statement.

My favourite cricketer is

SOURAV GANGULY

Go figure..

hey rahul,

i agree about the non-flowing nature of hockey, thts the reason why even i dont enjoy it for a longer duration... but i dont think that real hockey is what the aussies and other europians like spain and holland play. i think real hockey is all about dribbling.... and this kind of dribbling game can be seen only with asians like india and pakistan. what the aussies and europians play, is a well drilled passing game...whereas the asians game is more about individual skills and about long runs and long passes as compared to short and accurate passes of others.

the aussies and europians have been very effective with their technique... but i dont think that's real hockey...
